A Friend Like You:
I want to be a friend like you.
You told me that we met a long time ago
in a space both silent and cold.
There we drifted
side by side
as tiny crystals twirled down upon your ground.
With eyes of approval and a chuckle
you said to me,
“My child let’s be friends, crawl inside my warmth.”
to breathe free
with an ice-cold shudder
from the depths of the gut
and out through the mouth and the nose.
Reflections about the sun and solitude.
Thank you for the sun,
warming my feet outside these four walls.
Thank you for solitude,
the world around me comes to life when not a thought sits in my mind.
